Kakot is a farming village of around 600 families in Kampong Cham Province, three hours northeast of Phnom Penh. Like much of rural Cambodia, it carries the long shadow of past hardship: limited access to secondary schooling, scarce learning resources, and few options for young people who dream of a different future.
Junior Initiative was founded in 2025 by a group of local teachers, parents, and friends from abroad who believed the answer wasn't to bring solutions from outside — but to back the ones already growing inside Kakot itself.
Today, we work with the village school, the commune council, and a handful of trusted local partners to fund scholarships, run a daily literacy program, and keep clean water flowing to every household that needs it. Small things, done well, repeated year after year.
